  2. S3 Flat Memory Model Windows 3.1 Driver 2.1 Release Notes

  6. 1.   The Flat Memory Model Driver offers the following features:
  7.      A singular driver supporting multiple resolutions.  Note that this  Disk
  8.      supports the 928 with the BrookTree '485 RAMDAC.  In addition, the
  9.      801/805 640 x 480 x 24bpp driver does not have the Flat Model
  10.      architecture.  It is the same driver from past releases.
  11.  
  12. 2.   The Flat Memory Model driver does not support Windows 3.1 Standard Mode.
  13.  
  14. 3.   Driver limitations:
  15.  
  16.      The S3FLAT.DRV, and S3FLATBT.DRV drivers will not run in Standard mode.
  17.      Do not try to start Windows with the /s option.
  18.  
  19.      CR.EXE must be ran before Windows is loaded, if running Windows in
  20.      1280x1024 16 color mode.  The command line should be:
  21.      <CR 52 3F>.  CR.EXE is included on the drivers disk.

  23. 4.   Bug Fixes such as the following:
  24.  
  25.      System hung when running AutoDesk Animator.
  26.  
  27.      Windows 3.1 - System hung when pressing "Ctrl-Alt-Del".
  28.  
  29.      Freelance Graphics - Pattern fills appeared as a blank color.
  30.  
  31.      Freelance Graphics - Pattern filled colors were reversed when viewing
  32.      through a screen show.
  33.  
  34.      Freelance Graphics - In 4bpp modes, Pattern bitmaps were displayed
  35.      incorrectly when viewing through a screen show.
  36.  
  37.      WordPerfect - The system hung when opening a .wkb file.
  38.  
  39.      PowerPoint - In the 4bpp modes, the pattern fills inside oval or circular
  40.      shapes appeared distorted when viewing through a slide show.

  42.      In the Windows default color scheme, the colors were displayed as
  43.      dithered colors instead of solid colors.  This only occurred with the 4bpp
  44.      modes.
